Caretino is the last son of the legendary Caletto II actively breeding in Holstein. He was approved in Holstein in 1985 with the outstanding jumping index of 145 points and scored high for rideability. As a 5 and 6 year old he qualified himself for the Bundeschampionart and had as a 7 year old his First placed results in showjumping class S. As an 8 year old he had 40 placings with Bo Kristofferson and was sucessfully in the Danish national team. He then changed from rider to Ludger Beerbaum for a short while before he came back in the breeding programme after many requests from breeders.

Among his outstanding offspring are Ballerina who won Gold Medal in the team at the European Championshipswith Marcus Merschforman, Charlottenhof's Chandra who won Bronze in the team at the European championships with Soren von Ronne, Caretano Z with Jos Lansink, Crocodile Dandy with Alison Firestone, his full brother Conally with Marcus Renzel, Pikeur Carlo Cassini with Franz Josef Dahlmann, Cathleen with Marc Wirths, Caresino with Hauke Luther,and Celestino with Jurgen Kraus. At the last years International Youngster Tour many Caretino offspring were high placed. Christian Ahlmann won the final with Catwalk, Chianti la Silla had an excellent 4th place with Rolf G.Bengtson.

Caretino is not only a producer of first class jumping horses but also very good dressage horses, namely Carpaccio, Cockney and Chinook.

Up to now Caretino has got 30 approved sons. But also as a mare producer he is important. At the yearly Elite Mare Show in Elmshorn there are always daughters from Caretino that place highly. In 2003 the mare, Picolina became Champion in an impressive way.
