About Us

L-R: Herr Boley (Managing Director of the Holsteiner Verband), Karen Reid (Fox Fire Farm), and Paul Ffoulkes (Goldengrove Stud Farm) in Elmshorn, Germany.

Goldengrove Stud Farm is owned and operated by Paul and Vivienne Ffoulkes and has been established in New Zealand since 1997.

The stud farm is situated 50km west of Christchurch city in the Canterbury Plains and extends to more than 80 acres of well sheltered property.

The Ffoulkes family has been involved with the breeding and producing of sport horses in Europe before establishing Goldengrove Stud Farm in New Zealand. They were quick to recognise the unique environment that New Zealand has to offer which enables horses to be produced naturally and grown to their full potential.

With the arrival of world-class stallions such as Littorio, Lansing and Corlando, and the availability of frozen-semen stallions supplied by the Holsteiner Verband in Germany, New Zealand breeders have the opportunity to compete on a world stage like never before. The combination of these top European horses with the well-performed Australasian mares ensures the recipe for success.

Our philosophy

"Insist on only the best"

The policy of Goldengrove Stud Farm is to use fully approved, licensed and performance tested stallions to produce world class performance horses of extreme quality, good temperament, and soundness - everything that is required in a world-class athlete.
